A Simple Golf Swing
Choose Wisely, Score Lower

My DVR helped me make the decision to adopt a very simple golf swing.

With the advent of high definition pause control, I noticed that many, if not most, of the pros frequently used a three-quarter swing. Even though their swing was shorter, they still produced amazing ball contact and reaped the reward of the resulting great distances.

Knowing that that level of golf wasn't going to happen in my game, I did put together three primary goals that I knew could be achieved.

  • simplify my swing
  • improve my ball striking
  • gain just a little distance

So my search began, one step at a time.

The wisest way to improve at anything is to start with fundamentals and attack the issues one step at a time.

After exploring the different types of swing theories and learning processes, I decided that the best simple golf swing was the Stack and Tilt system. I felt this would give me the greatest opportunity for success.

My lifestyle helped me make the Stack & Tilt Golf Swing a logical choice.

Since I work full time as a science teacher, my time is severely limited, bot in going to the range and even finding time to play a full round of golf.

I chose to follow this system based on the following criteria.

  • I wouldn't have to totally remake my swing
  • My judgement was that I could follow the program within the time limits I had
  • I wanted positive results in a reasonably short time
  • Most importantly, it appeared that this system actually worked

I made the decision to start the program, and in the first two months I did the following activities.

  • carefully watched the videos and did the drills
  • went to the range twice
  • played one or two times per week (three balls for three holes) on the par three course in our housing development
  • played three regulation rounds, each time from the blue tees

The results of this two month regimen are given in the following table.

Round Fairways

Third Week 5of 14 8of 18 7 94
Fifth Week 7of 14 9of 18 5 90
Eighth Week 10of 14 12of 18 2 85

As a physics teacher who plays golf with a passion, the numbers tell the story.

Progressing through those two months of working with the stack and Tilt swing gave obvious improvemtn in the tee-to-green part of the game. Not only that, but the final score of the regulation rounds was greatly encouraging and gives me great confidence in the future.

Equally important as score and other statistics was the good feeling I had every time I hit a shot with that formerly elusive feeling of good contact and very acceptable results.
