Producing Professionalism in the
Christian School

During the faculty meeting about "how to have true professionalism," the administrator actually said, "A real teacher would never wear workboots to class."

He then proceeded to list on the whiteboard of the characteristics of a teacher that defined a perfect teacher should be like... at least in his opinion.

  • men always wear ties, and women only dresses or skirts
  • attend all meetings and arrive on time
  • hand in all reports completed and on time
  • call parents on a weekly basis
These easily identified and measured qualities are lacking in the substance that adequately defines what it means to be a truly outstanding teacher
